Chris Owenby received his B.M. in Creative Music Technology from LaGrange College where he studied composition with Lee Johnson, classical piano with George Mann, and jazz piano with Randy Hoexter. He is currently pursuing his masters degree in composition at Georgia State University.
His work has been performed by members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, the Goliard ensemble, the LaGrange College Singers, and the Sons of Lafayette. His work has also been published by Emerson Music Publishing, and has premiered on Georgia Public Broadcasting, the Immanuel Broadcasting Network, White Dove Radio, and Bigloo Christian Radio among other broadcasting stations.
He currently serves as Minister of Music at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Marietta, and he teaches piano lessons at the Harmony House in Kennesaw. He also currently holds a position as pianist with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra.
He has interned with the distinguished Atlanta Symphony Chorus, and he is a member of several distinguished music societies, such as ASCAP, the American Composer's Forum, the College Music Society, ACDA, and the Nashville Songwriter's Association.
Upon completion of his masters degree at Georgia State University, Chris will further pursue his music education.
